The club
A village club, 130 years on
Forest Row Football Club was founded in 1892 and has been part of village life in the Sussex Weald ever since — three Saturday sides in green and white, and a welcome for everyone.
Our story
Football has been played in Forest Row since 1892, when a group of villagers formed a side to play local opposition on borrowed fields. More than a century later the club is still run the same way it always was: by volunteers, for the village — and everyone still calls it Frow.
Today Frow field three Saturday sides in green and white. The Firsts play in the Premier Division of the Southern Combination Football League at Step 5, having come up through the play-offs in 2025, and are managed by Ian Nicholls. The Reserves and Forest Row III both play in the Gray Hooper Holt LLP Mid Sussex Football League, under Brett Caiger and Adam Yates respectively, giving players from across the village a route into regular senior football.
The Firsts play at Jubilee Field. The Reserves and the Third play at The Pavilion in Forest Row — the club's real home, with a proper clubhouse, hot tea, affordable entry and a warm welcome every Saturday.
Run by volunteers
Every matchday at Forest Row depends on people giving up their time — marking the pitch, running the line, working the bar, washing the kit. The club is chaired by Elliot Benton, with Adam McIntyre as secretary and Daniel Vella looking after operations, while Ian Nicholls, Brett Caiger and Adam Yates take charge of the three sides. The club exists because those people keep turning up, season after season.
If you would like to help out, whether that's coaching, groundwork or a shift behind the bar, we would be glad to hear from you.
